My name is Juline Mathe and I’m the owner of Renee’s Jerk Chicken. I was born in Jamaica and grew up in Miami, Florida. I started cooking at about 8 years old. Specifically Jerk Chicken. A lot of people know about Jerk Chicken from visiting Jamaica and they come back home longing for that authentic taste. Real Jerk Chicken must be smoked not grilled or baked. If you don’t smoke it you can’t call it jerk chicken. I also created my own personal jerk rub. I wanted when you bite into my jerk chicken it is like nothing you’ve ever tasted. That’s what sets us apart from a lot of Jamaican restaurants. My menu is very simple. I offer Jerk Chicken and Oxtails. Two of my island’s most popular dishes. I figured if I focused on two items, I can deliver extraordinary service which is why most days we sell out within 3 hours. With that being said, it certainly did not come easy. There was a time in February 2021 where I thought about giving up and just going back to flying full time. I hit several roadblocks trying to find somewhere to park. My customers were hunting me down and week after week, I could not get permits because I have a trailer vs a truck. I was about to list my trailer for sale when Ram Mehta (Owner of La Meglio) called me trying to buy food and I told him we are closed and most likely would not reopen. He told me he saw my Fox4 news interview with Terrence Friday and also heard good reviews about my food. He encouraged me not to give up and graciously offered to have me park in front of his Restaurant La Meglio Pizza. I was skeptical at first but I put my faith in God and we have formed an amazing friendship. In early 2021 I met Angelia Pelham (Frisco City Council) and became fast friends. I started feeling like I wanted to offer more items however our food trailer is very limited. I decided to take a leap of faith and rent a restaurant in Plano. Angelia asked me why I wanted to take Renee’s away from Frisco. I explained that I could not afford to rent in Frisco. She asked me to hold off signing a lease until she could introduce me to Donny Churchman who is the CEO of Nack Development. Donny is working tirelessly to revitalize Downtown Frisco. Donny offered me a deal I could not pass up. My own restaurant. While our storefront is being built, we will operate in front of Nack Theater in Downtown Frisco. We will operate Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays at Nack Theater from 11am until sold out. We recently had the pleasure of preparing dinner Grammy Nominated Singer Ky-mani Marley. We are truly thankful for all the support.
